Carthage Symphony Orchestra to Honor Egyptian Composer Baligh Hamdi in a Grand Evening
The Carthage Symphony Orchestra will present a major evening dedicated to the memory of Egyptian composer Baligh Hamdi (1932‑1993) on 17 March in Tunis, as part of the “Mélodies d’Orient” 2026 festival, organizers announced.

Programme
The concert will take the audience on a musical journey, starting with Hamdi’s early works and moving through his compositions that have become classics of Arabic song. The pieces will be rendered in a “powerful and moving” symphonic orchestration.
In addition to Hamdi’s repertoire, the evening will feature works by:
- Ziad Rahbani, Lebanese composer and pianist
- The brothers Mansour and Assi Rahbani, pivotal figures in contemporary Arab music
Cultural & Spiritual Highlights
Scheduled during the spring holidays and at the end of Ramadan, the concert will also include a selection of mouachahates and ibtihalates, adding a heritage‑rich and spiritual dimension to the event.
