Testing Operations for Bousalem-Algerian Border Highway Have Begun
Testing operations for the land necessary to release the areas for the construction of the highway connecting Bousalem to the Algerian border, spanning 75 km, began on Monday, November 10, 2025, announced Fares Torkhani, President of the Local Development Council of Jendouba.
Project Overview
The work started in the delegation of Ben Bsher and will continue towards Bellarija and then Fernana, specified Mr. Torkhani. He highlighted the strategic importance of the project due to the commercial dimension of the border post in the region.
Project Sections
The project is divided into two sections:
- Bousalem – Fernana, covering 40 km
- Fernana – Algerian border, covering 35 km
Next Steps
According to Fares Torkhani, after this initial phase, the procedure for modifying the areas will be initiated through the regional inquiry commission. The estimated cost of the project is 2.5 billion dinars.

The President of the Local Development Council emphasized the authorities' willingness to quickly finalize the administrative procedures to launch the construction of the highway as soon as possible, thus strengthening the region's connectivity and commercial potential.
