Tourism Minister Highlights Region's Potential and Projects to Revitalize the Sector

On Friday, May 15, 2026, Tourism and Handicrafts Minister Sofiene Tekaya inaugurated a new five-star hotel in the Gafsa governorate, as part of efforts to strengthen regional tourist offerings and position the region as an attractive tourist destination.

According to Wahida Jaid, a mission officer at the Ministry of Tourism, this new hotel unit will contribute to increasing the region's accommodation capacity and encouraging more domestic tourism. She also emphasized the importance of the role of travel agencies in promoting the destination through organizing more circuits and tourist stays.

During this visit, the Minister inspected the progress of the development and renovation works undertaken in another hotel unit in Gafsa, as part of the modernization of local tourist infrastructure.

Sofiene Tekaya also visited the Gafsa Design and Innovation Center, where an exhibition showcasing creations inspired by local heritage was organized.

The ministerial visit concluded with a working session held at the governorate's headquarters, focusing on examining projects and mechanisms that could support the transformation of Gafsa into a true regional tourist hub.
