A working session dedicated to monitoring the technical and economic feasibility study of the project to build and equip a regional cancer treatment center for Grand Tunis was held yesterday at the headquarters of the Ben Arous governorate, under the presidency of the regional governor. The meeting brought together the main regional and local officials concerned, including the secretary general of the governorate, the regional director of health, the delegate of the governorate center, the president of the regional council, and the head of the objective management unit responsible for monitoring projects financed by foreign donations and loans. Experts and engineers from the mandated study office, as well as several administrative and technical executives, also participated in the work.

Also present were the delegate of Ben Arous, the official ensuring the interim of the municipality, the regional directors of the state domains, equipment, and agriculture, as well as representatives of Tunisie Telecom, the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG), and the National Water Exploitation and Distribution Company (SONEDE).

The study office presented the main lines of the project, including its technical components and the expected impact on the offer of oncology care. The participants then examined the outstanding difficulties, particularly the land situation of the land reserved for construction, considered a determining element for the effective launch of the site.

At the end of the session, the governor emphasized the need to accelerate the completion of administrative procedures and strengthen coordination between the different intervening structures. The objective is to lift the remaining obstacles and ensure the launch of the project as soon as possible.

According to a statement published on Sunday by the regional health directorate, this future center constitutes a major health infrastructure intended to strengthen the care system and improve the management of patients with cancer, for the benefit of the inhabitants of Ben Arous and the entire Grand Tunis.
