Tunisian Court Sentences Man to Death for Murdering Wife and Daughter
The criminal chamber of the Court of First Instance in Tunis has sentenced a man to death by hanging for stabbing his wife and daughter to death following a family dispute. The accused was found guilty of premeditated voluntary homicide.
Background of the Case
The incident dates back to August 1, 2024, when the Sijoumi national security district was alerted to the presence of a bloody woman in front of her home in the Ezzahrouni neighborhood. Upon arrival, security units and civil protection personnel were only able to confirm her death. Upon entering the residence, agents discovered the couple's daughter in one of the rooms, seriously injured. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the young victim succumbed to her injuries upon arrival.
Investigation and Arrest
In coordination with the prosecutor of the Republic of the Court of First Instance of Tunis 2, field investigations quickly led to the identification of the suspect, who was none other than the victim's husband. A carefully laid trap led to his arrest in possession of the murder weapon, a knife. During his interrogation, the individual confessed, justifying his actions by citing persistent tensions with his wife and daughter.
