Earthquake Strikes Northwest Turkey
A magnitude 5 earthquake hit the Sea of Marmara, in northwest Turkey, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced on Thursday. An eyewitness reported to the "Reuters" agency that the earthquake caused buildings to shake in Istanbul, spreading panic among residents. The AFAD specified that the magnitude of the earthquake was 5 degrees. No human losses or major material damage have been reported so far, and Turkish authorities continue to assess the situation.
