Global Humanitarian Convoy "Flotilla of Resilience" Announces New Addition
The global humanitarian convoy "Flotilla of Resilience" has announced that the Italian NGO "Emergency" will be sending its rescue ship, the "Life Support", to join the flotilla en route to the Gaza Strip.
In a post on the X platform (formerly Twitter), the organization specified that "the Italian NGO Emergency will be sending its 51-meter rescue ship, Life Support, to join the Fleet". The ship, which is usually used for rescuing migrants in the Mediterranean Sea, will this time provide medical and logistical support.
The ship will join the flotilla, which consists of dozens of boats and hundreds of people from 44 countries, including Swedish activist Greta Thunberg. Earlier on Thursday, the organization had announced that Mandla Mandela, the grandson of the late South African leader Nelson Mandela, had also joined the convoy.
The Flotilla of Resilience is continuing its crossing of the Mediterranean for the fourth consecutive day. Around 20 ships left the port of Barcelona, Spain, on Sunday, followed by another convoy that departed from the port of Genoa, in northwest Italy, on Monday morning. These ships are expected to meet up with another convoy that will depart from Tunisia next Sunday, before continuing their journey to Gaza in the coming days.
