International Drug Trafficking Conviction in Tunis
The criminal chamber of the First Instance Court of Tunis sentenced, yesterday, a man and his wife to 20 years of imprisonment each for international drug trafficking.
According to the case file, the couple is accused of importing a quantity of heroin from a European country into Tunisia, after dividing and concealing it inside a travel suitcase.
Both defendants were arrested upon arrival at the port of La Goulette, where security services seized 380 heroin capsules in their possession.
The investigation established that the drug was intended to be distributed on the local market.
