Sacrificial Lamb Sales Operations Launch in Manouba Governorate

Official Launch of Sacrificial Lamb Sales Operations in Manouba Governorate

On Monday, May 18, 2026, the sacrificial lamb sales operations officially kicked off under the supervision of the Interprofessional Group of Red Meats and Milk in Essaïda, Manouba Governorate. The first day was marked by a limited supply facing strong demand.

This initiative is part of the state's efforts to ensure citizen access to sacrificial lambs and stabilize the market. The supply will continue on a daily basis for a period of ten days, with a focus on achieving a balance between supply and demand.

For this launch, over 200 sacrificial lambs were mobilized thanks to the contributions of production units in Medjez El Bab and Mateur.

A strict pricing system based on weight has been implemented to ensure transparency and protect the purchasing power of citizens. The prices are as follows:

  • For lambs weighing less than 45 kg: 27 dinars per kilogram
  • For lambs weighing between 45 and 60 kg: 25.800 dinars per kilogram
  • For lambs weighing over 65 kg: 23.800 dinars per kilogram

From Essaïda, Anis Zaïem, in charge of managing the Office of Livestock and Pastures, appeared on the National Radio, describing the initial participation of breeders as timid. He urgently called on farmers and producers to join the two designated spaces in Essaïda and Rades in large numbers. According to him, this strong adherence is essential to anchor the culture of selling by the kilogram on the national market.

However, the responsible official reassured consumers by emphasizing that all exposed lambs undergo rigorous and systematic veterinary and sanitary controls to ensure the safety and quality of the sacrifices.

It is worth noting that the two sites in Essaïda and Rades welcome the public every morning from 8 am.
