Tunisian Court Hands Down Five-Year Prison Sentence to Businessman
The specialized correctional chamber for financial corruption cases at the Tunis Court of Appeal has sentenced a businessman and former president of a sports club to five years in prison, along with financial fines.
Background of the Case
The Public Prosecution Office at the Economic and Financial Judicial Pole had decided to refer the businessman and former sports club president to the Correctional Chamber for financial corruption cases, in order to be tried for allegations related to the constitution of assets abroad without authorization from the Central Bank of Tunisia and for banking-related crimes.
Ongoing Legal Proceedings
It is worth noting that the aforementioned businessman is also being held in connection with another pending case before the Criminal Chamber specialized in financial corruption cases at the Tunis Court of First Instance.
