Ministry of Education Invests 400 Million Dinars in School Rehabilitation and Modernization

The Ministry of Education has invested 400 million dinars in the rehabilitation and modernization of schools across the country, announced Minister of Education Nourredine Nouri on Tuesday during a plenary session held under the presidency of the Chairman of the National Council of Regions and Districts, Imed Dherbali.

Allocation of Funds

According to the minister, these funds have been allocated to construction, maintenance, and equipment projects in several governorates, with the aim of improving learning conditions and ensuring student safety.

Concrete Achievements

The concrete achievements include:

  • Creation of 17 new educational institutions (8 primary schools, 7 colleges, and 1 high school)
  • Construction of 66 preschool spaces
  • Rehabilitation of 325 schools
  • Installation of 71 prefabricated classrooms
  • Construction of 106 new perimeter walls by the end of September 2025 Additionally, digital surveillance systems have been installed in 500 institutions to strengthen security inside schools.

Special Intervention Program

The minister also mentioned the progress of the special program of urgent interventions, launched in May 2025, which has enabled the start of 134 interventions in 20 regional delegations, including 106 demolition and reconstruction operations for a total cost of 10.7 million dinars. In parallel, 300 interventions are in the contracting phase, 129 are in the tendering phase (13 million dinars), and 72 are in the study and preparation phase (8 million dinars).

Logistical Equipment

On the logistical level, the ministry has equipped all colleges and high schools with modern mobile computer labs, comprising 2,260 labs, 29,380 laptops, and 2,260 broadcasting devices. Furthermore, 17,550 desktop computers, 4,600 photocopiers, and 4,500 digital projectors have been provided. More than 85,000 double tables have also been acquired to equip 700 classrooms, as well as 1,500 new pedagogical labs intended for primary schools.

Social Aspect

On the social level, Nourredine Nouri announced the regularization of the situation of nearly 24,000 substitute teachers and laboratory agents, in accordance with the presidential decision to put an end to precarious employment in the sector.

New School Year

Finally, he welcomed the smooth start of the 2025-2026 school year, marked by a calm and organized climate, specifying that educational institutions are hosting 2,625,434 students this year, supervised by nearly 160,000 teachers and educational staff distributed across 6,164 schools, colleges, and high schools.
