La Goulette Port Welcomes Thousands of Tourists
The port of La Goulette welcomed, on Tuesday, a ship from the "Costa Cruises" company carrying nearly 3,000 tourists of different nationalities, including Europeans, as well as visitors from Turkey, Gulf countries, the United States, and China. "It is the third cruise of the company in Tunisia, out of about forty scheduled between 2025 and 2026," said Sami Debbiche, General Manager of the cruise terminal at the port of La Goulette, in a statement to the TAP agency. In total, "Costa Cruises" plans to transport nearly 135,000 tourists during this period.
Tourist Activities
A portion of the cruise passengers will travel by bus to various tourist sites, including La Medina, Sidi Bou Said, and Carthage, while 300 taxis have been made available to other visitors to explore the places of their choice, added the official.
Growth of Cruise Tourism
He also welcomed the resumption of cruises, whose traffic is experiencing "exponential growth from year to year", specifying that the total number of cruise passengers expected should reach nearly 400,000 this year. "In 2022, the year of the resumption of cruises in Tunisia after seven years of absence, we welcomed 50,000 tourists," he recalled, emphasizing that the goal is to attract a total of 500,000 cruise passengers in 2026.
Expansion of Cruise Season
Debbiche also noted that cruises, previously limited to the period from March to October, will now extend throughout the year.
