Call for Applications: 27th Edition of the Carthage Theatre Festival
The Executive Committee of the 27th edition of the Carthage Theatre Festival (JTC) has announced the opening of applications for participation in the various sections of the festival, which will take place from November 21 to 28, 2026. The application period remains open until July 31, 2026.
Eligible Applicants
Applications for the official competition and parallel performances are addressed to professional Tunisian, Arab, and African theatre structures. The "Theatre of the World" section concerns professional theatre and live performance structures from around the world, as well as Tunisian, Arab, and African theatre professionals residing abroad.
Application Requirements
To be eligible for one of these sections, the candidate work must have been produced after the closing of applications for the previous edition of the JTC, i.e., after August 31, 2025, for Tunisian, Arab, and African productions.
Application Documents
The application dossier must include the following documents:
- Biographies of the author, director, actors, and technicians, accompanied by their identity photos
- Copies of the passports of team members for foreign troupes
- Artistic and press dossier containing:
- Synopsis
- Artistic intention note
- Press review and media critiques
- High-definition photographs
- Official poster of the work
- Technical dossier including:
- Detailed plan of the set, stage accessories, and specific technical needs
- Certificate of the first performance date
- A single, high-definition audiovisual recording of the performance
- A commitment to provide French and English subtitles or surtitles for selected performances in the various festival sections (official competition, parallel sections, and international performances)
Festival Participation Terms
Selected troupes for the official competition agree to perform two shows on the same day and in the same space proposed by the festival direction. The festival direction reserves the right, in coordination with the production structure, to program additional performances for international and parallel section works on Tunisian territory during the festival period.
Logistical Arrangements
Foreign theatre troupes are responsible for international transportation and shipping costs for stage accessories and decorations. The festival direction covers the full-board accommodation for actors, directors, and three technicians, as well as internal transportation, for a total of up to 15 people.
