Preparations for the 2025/2026 Academic Year: Regional Security Council Meets to Ensure Success

The Regional Security Council met yesterday, Wednesday, at the headquarters of the Tunis Governorate to discuss preparations for the upcoming academic year. The meeting brought together all stakeholders in the education sector to address key issues related to the new year.

Priority on Safety and Combating Incivilities

At the beginning of the session, Tunis Governor Imed Boukhris emphasized the need to protect the surroundings of educational institutions and combat all phenomena that threaten public safety. He called for the organization of joint regional campaigns to:

  • Combat the anarchic occupation of public space
  • Manage the presence of stray dogs around schools

The governor also urged educational institutions to implement a self-security system, providing daytime and nighttime guards. He also requested increased vigilance and immediate reporting of any suspicious behavior, both inside and outside institutions.

Traffic Fluidity and Infrastructure Maintenance

Another point addressed was the fight against traffic congestion during peak hours around educational institutions. The governor called for the widespread installation of traffic lights. He also asked the delegates of Education Tunis 1 and 2 to encourage the directors of primary schools, colleges, and high schools to undertake necessary maintenance, painting, and lighting work.

Support for the Underprivileged and Transportation

The governor also called on the delegates and the regional administration of Social Affairs to support vulnerable families who cannot provide school supplies for their children. Finally, he requested the services of the Ministry of Transport to ensure a regular and well-conditioned school and university transportation service.

The meeting aimed to ensure a successful and safe academic year, with a focus on safety, infrastructure, and support for underprivileged families. By addressing these key issues, the Regional Security Council hopes to provide a positive and productive environment for students and educators alike.
