Ministry of Commerce Stocks Up on Potatoes and Improves Coffee and Meat Supplies

The Ministry of Commerce has stored approximately 12,000 tonnes of potatoes, in addition to the private sector's refrigerated stocks, in anticipation of the autumn shortage. This was confirmed by Ramzi Trabelsi, Director of the National Observatory of Supply and Prices at the Ministry of Commerce.

Invited to the "Youm Saïd" (Good Day) program on national radio on Monday, September 8, 2025, he also stated that an exceptional quantity of 100 tonnes of coffee had been distributed to small roasters and 50 tonnes to large retailers, in order to improve supplies.

Regarding red meat, Trabelsi indicated that 20 tonnes of imported refrigerated lamb will be distributed every week at preferential prices set at 38,900 dinars per kilogram.

In the same context, he revealed that over 34 tonnes of beef had been distributed during the summer period. Trabelsi added that the ministry will continue to distribute regulatory quantities of red meat in the coming weeks to stabilize the market.
